Rising with Him: An Easter Reflection

As I woke up this Easter Sunday morning, preparing for church and getting ready to pastor my First Impressions team, a profound thought struck me while brushing my teeth. Jesus sacrificed His life for me, and on the third day, which is today, He rose with all power. And because He rose, I can rise in Him.

Reflecting on the Sacrifice

Jesus' journey to the cross was not just a path of suffering, but a testament to His unconditional love for us. He bore our sins, our shame, and our burdens, offering Himself as the ultimate sacrifice. This act of love is beyond comprehension, and yet, it is the very foundation of our faith.

The Power of Resurrection

The resurrection is not merely an event in history; it's a promise of hope and renewal. Because He rose, we have the assurance that death is not the end, and that we too can rise above our circumstances. It's a testament to the fact that with God, all things are possible.

Rising in Him

To rise in Him means to embrace the new life He offers. It's an invitation to let go of our past and step into a future filled with His grace and truth. But what does it truly mean to rise in Him? It means that we take on His attributes, His character. We embody His healing power, His voice, and authority to speak to the mountains, and they must obey. We inherit His peace that surpasses all understanding, His love to love our neighbor as ourselves, and His wisdom to think before we speak.

Key Takeaways:

  1. Embrace His Attributes: As we rise in Him, we take on Jesus' character, embodying His love, peace, wisdom, and authority.

  2. Live Out His Love: Let His sacrificial love inspire us to love our neighbors and show compassion to those around us.

  3. Walk in His Authority: Remember that in Him, we have the authority to speak to our challenges and see them overcome.

Scriptures to Reflect On:

  • Philippians 2:5-7: "In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus: Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to His own advantage; rather, He made Himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness."

  • John 14:12: "Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father."

A Story Behind the Scripture:

When I reflect on Philippians 2:5-7, I'm reminded of the humility and servant-hearted nature of Christ. It challenges me to look beyond myself and serve others with the same love and compassion Jesus showed. It's a call to embody His character in every aspect of our lives.

A Prayer:

Heavenly Father, on this glorious Easter Sunday, we thank You for the gift of Your Son, Jesus Christ. Thank You for the sacrifice He made, for the love He demonstrated, and for the hope His resurrection brings. Help us to rise in Him, embracing the new life You offer. May our lives reflect Your love and Your truth. In Jesus' name, Amen.
